Althea Lawton-Thompson - PMFT Founder & Leader

Althea’s Bio

Althea Lawton-Thompson is an intuitive holistic healer, spiritual teacher, international retreat leader, and experienced entheogen facilitator with more than 30 years of experience in sacred healing. She has led more than 50 wellness and cultural retreats in 12 countries while studying alongside traditional healers throughout Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. Her immersive training in traditional plant medicines includes years of ceremonial work with Ayahuasca/Yagé, Hapé, and Mapacho tobacco in South America, as well as initiation into the Missoko Bwiti Tradition in Gabon, Central Africa, where she was immersed in the sacred use of Iboga. These experiences have shaped an approach that honors ancestral healing traditions while maintaining the highest standards of safety, cultural respect, and participant care.

In addition to working with sacred medicines, Althea has trained and certified hundreds of professionals in Reiki, yoga, meditation, and the healing arts. Blending clinical wellness practices with ancient spiritual traditions, she equips practitioners with the knowledge, confidence, and cultural understanding to serve others with integrity.

Althea’s Why

"A wise teacher once told me that creating a succession plan is one of the smartest and most selfless acts of a true leader. I can’t—and shouldn’t—do this work alone. So I poured everything I’ve experienced, studied, and learned into a program that provides a foundational blueprint for others to build upon through their own experiences, lessons, and unique way of serving.

I created the PMFT to be inclusive, authentic, and grounded in real life—a program that brings clinical knowledge and ceremonial wisdom together while honoring the traditions and people who have carried this work for generations. I believe this information should be shared in service of global healing and spiritual expansion, regardless of ethnicity or background. In PMFT, when one of us learns, we all grow. My vision is to see facilitators who reflect the true diversity of our world creating spaces where more people feel represented, respected, safe, and valued.”
